3.35 Newbury – MISTERTON 22/1 – 1pt win

Not sure what Harry Fry is feeding this horse since last season, but it’s certainly working….the improvement he has shown is massive and his chances cannot be underestimated here. Won his first run of the season over at Chepstow in a Class 2 handicap over 2m beating Man of Plenty, a decent sort, by just over one length on good ground. His next race at Cheltenham in November, in the Greatwood Hurdle, was even more impressive and he was probably slightly unlucky to lose by a neck to Elgin. He was however 4L and more in front of Jenkins who went on to win a decent contest at Ascot last month and more notably The New One who finshed 2nd in the Christmas Hurdle and then went on to win the Chamption Hurdle Trial at Haydock.

MISTERTON s up 5lb here but I don’t see that hindering him on this soft ground which he will relish. Waiting for this race looks like a shrewd move from Harry Fry and one I think might just pay off. In a big field he will need a bit of luck in running but the 22/1 looks huge.
