AL AIN – FRIDAY 16th FEBRUARY 2018
Madjani Sponsored By Shadwell For Private Owners Only Handicap – 7f
Fifteen go to post but very few appear to have a realistic chance. AF MUWALL’AA has had a good season to date if you ignore his last run. Main danger appears to come from AF Tebyan who again despite disappointing last time out has had a reasonable season.
No Risk Al Maury Sponsored By Shadwell Maiden – 7f
Very little to make a case for those who have run already. Those making their debut two interesting sorts from the Ernst Oertel yard AF Mazun and AF Qadeyah but preference is from the Eric Lemartinel yard NIMER.
United Arab Emirates University Maiden – 1m1f
A slightly more competitive maiden then race 2. Two interesting newcomers from the Ernst Oertel yard AF Mofaoed and AF AL Hurria both should be fit to run on their debuts. Although form reads 0-10 ASYAD has put up some improved performances in her last three runs and conditions look like they suit. Tadhg O’Shea takes the ride. Safin Al Reef ran well last time, finishing second, on only his third ever run and looks like will get into a place.
Derrinstown Stud Handicap – 1m1f
Munaaf is a course and distance winner and has had two good runs this season. One for the shortlist. Mukaram has won three on the bounce including a course and distance victory last time out. Has risen significantly in the weights which may stop his winning streak. AF ABAHE won three on the bounce before pulling up last time out. If no adverse effects from that run will take the beating. RB Goliath is a very useful sort but has not performed well this season.
Shadwell Farm Conditions – 1m
AF TATHOOR best runs have all come on this track including her maiden victory. A useful third last time out over course and distance looks capable to take this. Arif is a very consistent horse and should be fighting out for a place despite maybe preferring racing on the turf. Jeemi was a course winner last time out and probably the main danger to the selection.
Mohaymen Sponsored By Shadwell Farm – 1m2f
The only thoroughbred race on the card is a maiden. Cranesbill produced best performance to date last time out with a third in a Meydan maiden. If produces that form again will go close. Immortalised was well behind in that Meydan maiden but has come out since and produced a good second place in handicap company. May again find one or two better. BROADCLOTH just missed out by a shorthead to win his maiden last time out over course and distance. Looks capable to finally break his duck.
Round 3 Of The Al Ain Marathon Series Sponsored By Shadwell Handicap – 2m4.5f
The feature race on the card and a real slog. Shamikh Al Wathba has won his last two races and appears to thrive on being upped in distance. Bayan is another horse who appears to have appreciated the step up in distance and should get into a place. The one to beat will be BALAD AL REEF who is a real stayer. Although beaten by Shamikh Al Wathba on last two runs is a course and distance winner and therefore should be able to reverse that form.
